LAND & CRUISE ITINERARY – EU MARKETS
DAY 1: FLY EUROPE TO SAIGON, VIETNAM: Overnight flights. Services as per airline policies.
DAY 2: HO CHI MINH CITY(Saigon) VIETNAM-EMBARK (D)
Welcome to Vietnam! On arrival and customs formalities you will be met and transferred to your floating hotel for check-in. A welcome drink/info meeting will proceed your first dinner on board.
DAY 3: HO CHI MINH CITY – (B,L,D)
09:00: After breakfast, board your motor coach for a full day of sightseeing starting with a panorama tour of this bustling capital. Sights you will see will include the Post Office, built by Gustave Eiffel, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Presidential Palace and others. 12:30: At the end of the tour, enjoy a Vietnamese style lunch at a local restaurant 14:30: Continue the tour which will include an exciting 30 minute rickshaw ride to the main Chinese Market where you will have free time to explore and marvel at the humongous choices of food articles and goods from around the world. 19:00 Return to the ship for dinner and then explore the bustling riverside promenade on your own.
DAY 4: SET SAIL: MY THO–CAI BE–VINH LONG-SA DEC (B,L,D)
04:30: Departure to My Tho 08:00: Breakfast while crossing the splendid canal of Cho Gao 10:30: Arrival at My Tho. The R/V INDOCHINE will set anchor close to Thoi Son Island. Sightseeing of My Tho will begin by crossing the river on local boats. Then, a visit by bus to the Vinh Trang pagoda will be followed by a panoramic tour of the city with stops at a local Snake Farm and market. Afterwards, return to the pier and visit Thoi Son Island in local boats. 12:30: Return to the ship and enjoy lunch as you sail on to Cai Be. 15:00: On arrival in Cai Be you will tour the floating vegetable and fish markets in local boats. Then continue to Vinh Long for a tour before returning to your ship. 18:00: Embarkation and departure to Sa Dec 19:00: Dinner on board 22:00: Arrival near Sa Dec
DAY 5: SA DEC – CHAU DOC (B,L,D)
08:00: After breakfast, enjoy a panoramic tour of Sa Dec by coach including a visit to 10:00: a Bonsai Seedbed on the way back to the ship. Sail to Chau Doc. 13:00: Lunch on board 16:00: Arrival at Chau Doc. Here, your sightseeing will begin with a visit to the village of the local minority Cham community in local boats. Upon your return to Chau Doc, depart by bus to the Nui Sam Hill which offers splendid views of the river and the nearby Cambodian border. Then, on the way back, visit of the Chua Xu Temple and the Tay An Pagoda. Return to the ship in time for dinner. 19:00: Dinner and a free evening to explore the nearby market or enjoy a cocktail at the lovely, colonial style Victoria hotel, located dockside. 22:00: Return to the ship and set sail upstream where you will lay anchor or the night.
DAY 6: KOH DEK CHAU (border crossing) (B,L,D)
07:30: Departure to Vinh Xuong (Vietnamese border) 09:30: Arrival at the border with Cambodia. 12:30: The ship leaves the border to the island of Koh Dek Chau 14:30: Arrival at Koh Dek Chau after lunch on board with time to visit this tiny island to meet and mingle with the local people. 15:30: Embark and enjoy the magnificent views as you continue sailing until nightfall. 19:00: Dinner on board. DAY 7: KAMPONG CHAM–PREK TA KUNG–PHNOM PENH(BL,D) 05:00: Set sail 08:00: Buffet Breakfast 09:00: Arrival at Kampong Cham. Tour of this city, famous for its many Wats (Temples) dating back to the Chenla Empire. 11:30: Embarkation followed by lunch on board as you sail on. 16:00: Arrival and sightseeing of Prek Ta Kung renowned for its traditional craftsmen 18:00: Return to the ship and continue sailing 19:00: Dinner on board 19:30: Arrival to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital city. The evening is free and we highly recommend a visit and an after dinner cocktail at the famous Foreign Correspondents Club located a short, fun and inexpensive bicycle rickshaw ride from the docking area. Or take a stroll down the bustling riverside promenade full of street vendors and night markets. Return to the ship is at your leisure.
DAY 8: PHNOM PENH (B,L,D) 07:00: After breakfast, tour the capital of Cambodia which has retained its French colonial charm. Your morning sightseeing will include the Royal Palace, the National Museum and Wat Phnom 13:00: Lunch at a local restaurant 14:30: Continue your sightseeing with an excursion to the infamous “Killings Fields”, the former detention, torture and execution centre during the Cambodian civil war which lasted between 1975 -1979. 19:00: Return to the ship for dinner 21:00: Enjoy a special live on board performance featuring a local folklore group and Cambodia’s traditional “APSARA” dances. The balance of the evening is free.
DAY 9: PHNOM PENH – KAMPONG TRALACH (B,L,D)
08:00: After breakfast, free time to enjoy the city, explores the nearby Russian market or, if interested, the Museum of Genocide. Return to the ship and set sail. 12:00: Departure for Kampong Tralach. 13:00: Lunch on board 15:00: Upon arrival at Kampong Tralach tour the Pagoda Wat Kampong. 17:00: Embarkation and continue sailing along the Tonle River. 19:00: Arrival at Kampong Chhnang. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 10: HIGH WATER: KAMPONG CHHNANG – KAMPONG LUONG (B,L,D)
07:00: Breakfast 08:30: At Kampong Chhnang the river narrows and one can view the rich tapestry of rural life including its busy port and bustling markets. Exploring the city by foot. 11:30: Embarkation and lunch as you continue sailing 15:00: On arrival to the local village of Kampong Luong, enjoy a tour in local boats. 19:30: The evening is reserved for your Captain’s Farewell Dinner!
LOW WATER: KAMPONG CHHANG – CHNOK TRU (B,L,D) Morning: Visit to Kampong Chhnang as shown. Afternoon: Arrival at Chnok Tru at 14.00 and tour of this alternate floating village in local boats. Captain’s Farewell dinner on for tonight!
DAY 11: END CRUISE - SIEM REAP High water (B,L,D):
05:00 Set sail and observe the local farmers, water buffalo and other unspoiled views as the RV “Indochine” crosses the vast 150 km wide Tonle Sap Lake (approximate sailing time is 4 to 5 hrs) On arrival to the port (located 35 to 45 min. from the town) bid your wonderful crew and ship goodbye as you disembark and
transfer to the city for the next part of your adventure! Low water: 08:00 After breakfast, you will cross the Tonle Sap Lake via speed boat or hydrofoil (approx. 3 hrs ) arriving at Siem Reap port around11:00.
DAY 11 SIEM REAP CONTINUED…. 12:00 Arrive to Siem Reap proper and check into your delightful first class hotel (Prince D’ Angkor, Angkor Century or similar). Enjoy a light lunch followed by check-in. 15:00 Depart by bus on your introductory tour of this fast growing town and gateway to the Angkor Temples. Stops will include the National Silk Center and a local market. Return to your hotel around 6 pm 19:00 Tonight enjoy a welcome dinner and folklore show.
DAY 12: SIEM REAP - ANGKOR TEMPLES (B,L,D) The day is devoted to an in-depth exploration of the fascinating “Lost City of Angkor”. Once the captial of the ancient Khmer empire, which ruled the area from the 9th to the 13th century, the city and its fascinating temples were slowly covered by jungle until the city was lost to civilazation. The temples were redicovered at the end of the 19th century, and the jungle was cleared over the next 70 years to reveal the “8th Wonder of the World” – the ancient Temples of Angkor Wat – today a UNESCO World Heritage Sight.
08:30 After a buffet breakfast at your hotel, your morning tour will take you to explore the south gates of Angkor Thom, Bayan, Baphoun Temple, Elephant Terrace, the Royal enclosure and the terrace of the Leper King. 12:30 A break for lunch will be held al fresco at the recently opned FCC club nearby. 14:30 The afternoon is reserved for a visit to Ta Prhom and the magnificent main Temples of Angkor Wat where an optional tethered balloon ride is said to offer the most magnificent sunset views in the world! Return to your hotel after sunset. 19:30 The day is not over yet as you depart your hotel for the town centre where you will enjoy a dinner at the “Red Piano” restaurant, a favourite of actress Angelina Jolie during her filming of the “Tomb Raider” movies. After dinner enjoy some free time to explore the lively downtown night life featuring night bazaars, café’s and night clubs. Return to your hotel around 10:30/11:00 pm
DAY 13: SIEM REAP* (B) A full free day to do as you please! Sleep in and enjoy your hotel pool and amenities, explore the town and shop at the local market for those last minute suveniers or take the optional half day “Tuk-Tuk” tour (motorized trycicle) which will whisk you around town with stops at the local Aligator Farm, the Wat Bo Pagoda and the renowned village of Artisan’s d’ Angkor where local artists will introduce you to the traditional techniques of wood carving, stone sculpting and lacquer work with explanations from your guide. The balance of the day is free and meals are on your own.
DAY 14: SIEM REAP*(BKK or other Asian gateway)–HOME (B) As all good things must come to an end, so does your wonderful exploration of this unique part of SouthEast Asia! After a final breakfast, check-out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your homebound flights. BON VOYAGE! |
